The Park Service says the $227 million renovation was among the largest transportation projects in the agency’s history.
Hurricane Florence led to a postponement of the closure, which will now occur from 7 p.m. on Friday, September 21 through 5 a.m. on Monday, September 24.

U.K. Man Fatally Struck On Arlington Memorial Bridge
Police say Robert M. Quinn, of Leicester, England, was struck on Saturday morning while walking across the bridge.
A temporary fix is scheduled to begin next year, but the National Park Service needs $250 million for long-term repairs.
