Barry Apologizes for Offending Polish Americans During Meeting Where He Apologized to Offended Asian Americans
After apologizing yesterday to Asian Americans for offending them, Marion Barry went ahead and offended Polish Americans. Today, he apologized to them.
Councilmember Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) is set to join a coalition of Asian American groups for a press conference tomorrow at a church in Anacostia, where the mayor-for-life is expected to address derogatory comments about Asian American businesses and Filipino nurses he made in April.

Former MTV VJ Kennedy Jumps in the Fray on Barry’s Comments About Asian-Owned Businesses
Kennedy, the one-time MTV host who now works for Reason, grilled Councilmember Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) on his comments earlier this month about Asian-owned businesses he called “dirty shops.”
After last week’s controversial comments about Asian business owners in his ward, Marion Barry found himself a “good Asian” and claimed that he was simply doing “God’s work.”
Hours of public condemnation appear to have convinced Marion Barry to finally walk back his comments Tuesday night that Asian-owned businesses in his part of the District are “dirty shops” that “ought to go.”

Asian Pacific American Film Festival Ends Saturday
DC’s 2004 Asian Pacific American Film Festival is well under way. The festival features screenings of a wide variety of films at venues across the District – from the Smithsonian Castle to the Goethe-Institut.
