Atlas wants to reward locals with free beer at its own locations when they purchase pints and six-packs at other bars or retail shops.

The second taproom and brewery will make Atlas the first manufacturing brewery with multiple locations in the District.  

Atlas argues the government is violating its free speech by not approving its labels.

Without approval of their labels from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, Atlas won’t be able to can and sell their spring brew.

Atlas CEO Justin Cox said in a press release that they are now licensed to manufacture beer in D.C. and will launch during several events from September 2 to 8.

Atlas Brew Works is aiming to become D.C.’s fourth commercial brewery in the first quarter of 2013, churning out a menu of original beers from its plant in Ivy City.
