All three pandas at the National Zoo are scheduled to leave by December 7 in accordance with an agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association. It’s not known if any pandas will be returning in the near future.
Two Sumatran tiger cubs were born on August 5, according to a release, a major victory for conservation efforts.

National Zoo Welcomes Baby Gazelle
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo welcomed a baby gazelle last week, and—surprise, surprise—it’s already adorable after just seven days of life. The male dama gazelle, which does not yet have a name, was born September 4 in an off-site exhibit.

Baby Animal Alert: Red Panda Cubs @ National Zoo

National Zoo Welcomes Baby Gazelle
It’s been at least a couple months since we had any new baby animals to coo over at the National Zoo, but the wait is now over!
