Almost a year to the day Port City Brewing Company lost power, jeopardizing a large quantity of its beer—yup, it lost power again.

Bill Butcher, the owner and brewmaster at Alexandria’s Port City Brewing Company, put D.C.-area beer-making on a national stage last night when he got to address the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Bill Butcher, the owner of Port City Brewing Company, is in Charlotte, N.C. today, where he will address the Democratic National Convention this evening about the Obama administration’s relationship with the small business community.

In commemoration of the storm that helped create it, Alexandria’s Port City Brewing Company is making a limited edition Derecho Common beer.
