Coachella Brings in Some of D.C.’s Best Bands
The do-it-yourself ethos of D.C.’s music scene doesn’t always lend itself to big weekends like Coachella, but this year’s edition of the Southern California music festival proved otherwise.

DVD Review: Ashes of American Flags
Ashes of American Flags, a film about Wilco recorded over a stretch of tour last year that saw the band across the American south, is not a documentary. The film follows the band through five different cities, but the shows are depicted in reverse of the actual tour dates. Some show footage is spliced together to move the narrative along. Three Stars: Garland of Hours
Amy Domingues is busy. It’s another Dischord smashup with songstress Mary Timony headlining, possibly or possibly not…

DCist Interview: Bob Mould
A legendary figure in the alternative music scene, Bob Mould came to prominence in the 1980s with his group Husker Du, who influenced independent music for years to come. Mould later formed the band Sugar, and now moonlights as a DJ (alongside local producer Richard Morel) at Blowoff, a popular dance night at the 9:30 Club where he spins everything from Depeche Mode to Gwen Stefani to his own material. This Saturday’s Blowoff will…
