Unemployment in D.C. Drops to 8.5 Percent in March
The District’s jobless rate creeped down one tenth of one percent last month, lowering the local unemployment rate to 8.5 percent, according to figures released today by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The District, Maryland and Virginia all saw their unemployment rates drop in October, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today in its monthly tallies of state-by-state joblessness.
According to the jobs report released this morning, 171,000 jobs were added in the month of October, while unemployment ticked up a tenth of a percentage point to 7.9 percent.

District Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.7 Percent

The District’s jobless rate decreased again in May, according to the latest round of local unemployment figures released by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The District added 4,000 jobs in March, though the unemployment rate remained flat at 9.8 percent, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics announced Friday in the latest round of local unemployment figures.
