It’s a tragic twist to the story of the fox accused of biting and nipping multiple people earlier this week.

Of course, there’s no way to confirm that the dead fox found is indeed the Capitol Hill Fox recently spotted roaming the Capitol grounds. But as National Park park ranger Mary Willeford Bair previously told DCist, foxes “have established territories.”

The National Park Service does not keep track of how many foxes live in the city. But NPS park ranger Mary Willeford Bair says it’s more than you’d think.
