D.C.’s Attorney General, and others across the country, are asking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall on Kia and Hyundai vehicles due to theft rates.

With a rise in Kia and Hyundai thefts in the area, police are offering wheel locks for residents to protect their cars.

Vehicle thefts are up 72% over last year in D.C., and the city’s top cop says he’s partnering with regional and federal law enforcement to take control.

Police are looking for the vehicle that was stolen while parked outside Bread Furst, a D.C. bakery.
