D.C. Failing At Tree Protection, Report Card Says
D.C. was on a tree planting binge last year, planting 12,111 new trees. Still, the city appears to be losing tree canopy even faster.
They’re not nearly as popular as the District’s celebrated cherry trees, but they’re easily as colorful, and can be found nearly everywhere in the city.

D.C. Needs to Take Better Care of Its Trees
Happy Arbor Day! In commemoration of dendrophiles’ favorite day of the year, the District received a report card on how it measures up as a steward of the local tree canopy, and the results are a little disappointing.
