The scholarship will be given to students in the dramatic arts who exemplify Boseman’s values: A drive for excellence, leadership, respect, empathy, and passion.

More than 58,000 people signed a petition urging the university rename the fine arts college after Boseman, the star of Black Panther and an alumnus.

Boseman’s death prompted mourning and words of appreciation for an acting career notable for excellence, dignity and strong portrayals of Black heroes. “He was always fighting for justice,” says a college acting teacher.
