Kogod Courtyard Named an ‘Architectural Wonder’

When the Kogod Courtyard opened at the Reynolds Center last November, we knew the elegantly curved structure would become a favorite of our keen eyed photographers. Little did we know it would capture worldwide attention: the hoity toity magazine Condé Nast Traveler picked the Courtyard as one of the new Seven Architectural Wonders of the World in its April issue. Kogod was named alongside such structures as the Red Ribbon in China’s Tanghe River Park…

Opinionist: Appreciating D.C.’s Style

Today’s Opinionist comes to us from local freelance writer Lisa Gschwandtner. DC is frequently described as “Hollywood for ugly people.” People who live here tend to resent this characterization. I am not one of those people. Before I came to DC, I lived among the fashionable and the glamorous in New York, and I can say this: You can’t compete with the 20-something girls employed by Conde Nast publications whose outfits belie their $30,000-a-year salaries….
