A Wegmans at Walter Reed?
This week, some of the world’s biggest retailers are meeting in Las Vegas for the International Council of Shopping Centers’ annual meeting. Mayor Vince Gray and Councilmembers Harry Thomas Jr., Vincent Orange and Michael Brown, though, are putting several chips on one specific dot: Wegmans.
A couple of readers have sent emails to DCist today, curious about an installation at Freedom Plaza which involves a large array of black t-shirts with messages on them. The shirts, for those still curious, are the most visible aspect of the 2011 National ALS Advocacy Day and Public Policy Conference, which is taking place in the District. Last night, the ALS Association held a candlelight vigil in the Plaza.
The Washington Post hosted a big roundtable this morning featuring an impressive collection of the people who run D.C.’s professional sports concerns — Wizards and Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, D.C. United owner Will Chang and Robert Tanenbaum and Marla Lerner Tanenbaum, owners of the Nationals. Of course, there was one man who most people were looking forward to hearing from — Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder. He did not fail to deliver.
