Pumped About ‘The State Of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth?’ There’s A Rally For That
Happening this Saturday at One Judiciary Square.
The D.C. stands for Douglass Commonwealth in the newly approved draft constitution, which will appear on the ballot in November.
“I was hoping that there would be a real discussion and debate among the community about how we want to structure our government.”
Today the Supreme Court justice said, “They’re being pushed into schools that are too advanced for them.”
It was on this day in 1964 that D.C. residents were able to cast their first ballots for president since they had lost that right in 1800.

Happy 51st Birthday, 23rd Amendment!
It was on this day 51 years ago that the Ohio became the 38th state to ratify the 23rd Amendment to the Constitution, which allowed D.C. residents to vote in presidential elections.

Updated: Occupy DC Not Planning Any Secession
UPDATE (5:45 p.m.): Justin Jacoby Smith, a member of the Occupy D.C. media team, has responded to DCist, saying, “at this point, we don’t have any formal plans and nothing in the works,” in regards to secession. Smith confirms that the document in question is a “declaration of grievances, a list of things we are worried about,” and is currently being drafted by a declaration committee.
