Elections Board Rules That Anti-Corporate Cash Petition Did Not Clear Signature Threshold
Activists trying to strip corporate money from D.C. campaigns received a setback today when the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics ruled they did not present enough valid signatures to earn their petition a slot on November’s ballot.
Organizers of a citizen-led initiative that would ban corporate contributions to D.C. campaigns are hoping to gather up to 10,000 signatures today, moving them closer to the 23,000 they need by July to get the measure on the November ballot.

Weaver Wants Corporate Money Out of D.C. Campaigns
Former Ward 1 and At-Large D.C. Council candidate Bryan Weaver and Ward 7 ANC Commissioner Sylvia Brown are planning on filing paperwork this afternoon that would put a measure banning corporate contributions to electoral campaigns before District voters this November.
