For some locals, insurance codes, supply issues, and canceled appointments are features of a new privatized vaccine system.

The D.C. Council could vote on Nov. 1 on whether or not to extend the COVID vaccine mandate for students.

Restaurants, bars, and gyms will be required to check patrons’ vaccination status for entry, per a new mandate from D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

From its earliest days, the coronavirus hit Black people and neighborhoods the hardest, and the pattern has not changed since. 

The bill requires county employees to get vaccinated, apply for a medical exemption, or lose their jobs.

D.C. would be among the first in the country to require all public school students get the COVID vaccine. A majority of councilmembers support the bill.

The incident affects some residents who were vaccinated at the Fort Stanton Recreation Center earlier this month.

“The best way to protect (children) is to have the adults around them vaccinated,” Bowser said. Staff have until Nov. 1 to get vaccinated.

The tickets aren’t bad either.

Any health care worker who works in D.C. will be required to get at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine by Sept. 30.
