Cracked Rail on Red Line Causing Delays This Morning
Metrorail discovered a cracked rail on the Red Line this morning, which is causing major delays for commuters trying to get to work.
Metro says it discovered a cracked rail outside the Forest Glen station earlier today. The rail in question is on the Shady Grove-bound side, and delays resulted in both directions on the Red Line as trains were forced to single-track around the problem area for a couple of hours. Metro’s terrible week just got a little bit worse. Crews discovered a cracked rail at 1 p.m. near the West Hyattsville station, which is causing Green Line delays while trains share the same track between Fort Totten and Prince George’s Plaza. Avoid the Red Line This Evening
WMATA has sent around word of delays of up to a half hour on the Red Line throughout the evening due to a cracked rail that was discovered on the outbound track approaching the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station. Trains are sharing one track between Woodley Park and Van Ness-UDC, with delays in both directions.
