It may cost Metro upward of $12 million to replace six train cars damaged beyond repair.

Police say the man was shot after his vehicle rear-ended a dark blue sedan in D.C.’s Third Street Tunnel.

The cyclist is in critical condition, according to D.C Police.

Police say Barry Martin Eastman’s car crossed over the double line on a Howard County road “for an unknown reason.”

A pickup truck switched lanes and struck the car head-on.

The incident took place around 4:45 a.m near the 1700 block of 7th Street NW, which was closed for about four hours.

They are more than halfway to a goal of $50,000.

A second police officer is in fair condition and a traffic control officer has been released from the hospital.

“He zoomed around the bus… I guess he got tired of waiting, and drove into the lane of oncoming traffic,” said one witness.

A car traveling to the left of the 79 bus attempted to make a right turn, “causing the bus to make contact” with the vehicle, according to a Metro spokesperson.
