The two schools — Calvary Christian Academy and the two Dupont Park Adventist School campuses — get money through the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which provides vouchers with federal money to low-income students for private school tuition.

A federally funded program offering D.C. public school students vouchers for private school tuition has long been a flashpoint between many Republicans and Democrats, and now it has become an issue in the 2012 presidential contest between Mitt Romney and President Obama.

A popular program that allows D.C. public school students to receive tuition for private school education has had its funding cut under President Obama’s 2013 budget.
