LGBT Anti-Violence Collaborative Launches in D.C.
The DC Anti-Violence Collaborative, a coming together of several Lesbian, Gay, Transgender and Bisexual advocacy groups, launched this week with the goal of “ending cycles of violence and oppression affecting LGBTQH people in the District of Columbia.”

In addition to playing loud rock music, Otto also runs a record label (Exotic Fever Records) out of her apartment. Plus, both she and Foglizzo work with multiple organizations such as Girls Rock Philly (Foglizzo) and Service Women’s Action Network (Otto) that promote progressive viewpoints and social justice. As such, it’s not surprising that Positive Force asked the duo to headline tonight’s fundraiser for the DC Trans Coalition. We asked Foglizzo and Otto about returning to D.C., managing their time and writing heavy melodies on an acoustic guitar.
A group of activists at George Washington University is concerned that a campaign to raise awareness about violence against transgender people is being snubbed out because of a campus policy about the placement of fliers.
The shooting of a man at the Columbia Heights IHOP early Sunday and an assault on an individual Monday in Park View are being investigated as anti-gay hate crimes. But an assault Monday on a transgender woman is not currently being investigated as a hate crime.

Activist Tells Council He’s ‘Lost Confidence’ When MPD Investigates Anti-Transgender Crimes
A leading member of the District’s transgender community told the D.C. Council today that he has little faith in the Metropolitan Police Department and Chief Cathy Lanier when crimes against transgender persons are committed.
