A History Of D.C.’s Bizarre Daylight Saving Mishaps
In the late 1940s, Congress acted too late on bringing daylight saving to D.C., leaving the nation’s capital an hour behind other parts of the country. Seriously.
…but were afraid to ask. Sunday at 2 a.m., we spring forward, which means we lose an hour of precious sleep, and also precious drinking time. But, not so fast – the D.C. Council has thought ahead for us.

Daylight Saving Means One Less Hour of Metro
Daylight Saving Time begins again this weekend. We’ll all be “springing forward” an hour at precisely 2 a.m. early Sunday morning, and that means one less hour of drinking time at area bars when you head out on Saturday night, and one less hour of Metro service. Metro officials are reminding customers that when the clocks are moved ahead one hour, it will suddenly be 3 a.m., and Metro will close for the night. Those…
