Families braved long lines and, in most cases, years’ worth of waiting for the chance to check their eligibility for a public housing unit.
New — and newly enforced — policies include guidelines on DCHA’s waiting list, pet and guest policies, and income certification procedures.

Years After Demolition, Former Residents Of NoMa Public Housing Complex Move Into New Building
The Temple Courts public housing complex was demolished in 2008 with promises that it would be rebuilt and residents could return. The process has taken years longer than originally hoped.
The legislation comes as an alternative to a widely criticized bill introduced by Mayor Bowser and Council Chairman Mendelson last week.
