Your D.C. Rollergirls All-Stars took a little trip to Philly last weekend to participate in the East Coast Derby Extravaganza. With D.C. on the rankings bubble for upcoming regionals, their first bout was a must-win.

D.C. Rollergirls All-Stars Crushed by Carolina
D.C. (#11 East seed) and Carolina (#7 East seed) faced off Saturday at the Dulles Sportsplex for their second match-up in four months — Carolina won a 97-92 nail-biter in February. D.C. had high hopes for a reversal of fortunes, but resignations and injury had dealt hefty blows to D.C.’s roster in the intervening months — instead, the bout turned into the largest defeat D.C. has suffered this season.

Scare Force One Has Landed…As Season Five Champs
The fifth DC Rollergirls‘ season has come to an end — and what a finale it was. The two teams that had split the first four seasons’ titles gave the crowd a thriller of a Championship bout before Scare Force One finally pulled away in the last few minutes to the delight of their boisterous fans.
Sunday’s derby double-header at the D.C. Armory kicked off with the 9th-ranked DC All-Stars looking to snap a worrying losing streak as they welcomed the Maine Port Authorities. The second bout of the afternoon served as a preview of the upcoming championship bout, as undefeated Scare Force One faced the DC DemonCats.
A roller derby feast was on the menu at the Armory Saturday afternoon, as a record crowd of 2,275 enjoyed a mouth-watering double-header. Proceedings began with an East Region clash featuring the ninth-ranked DC Rollergirls All-Stars playing host to the tenth-ranked Dutchland Rollers All-Stars, followed by a home team encounter between the DC DemonCats and the Cherry Blossom Bombshells.

The fourth bout of the DC Rollergirls‘ home season also served as the league’s fifth birthday celebration. Before the main event began, several current skaters who have been with DCRG since season one were joined in the center of the track by a slew of retired “originals” to a warm reception from the crowd.
