Metro Weekend Work To Affect Four Rail Lines
In case you missed it: Metro’s moving forward. Of course, there’s still track maintenance to take care of. This weekend, WMATA will be performing work on four of its rail system’s five lines, leading to plenty of single-tracking.
To add to the weekend’s transit woes, the IMF/World Bank’s annual spring meetings begin today. And you know what that means — street closures and parking restrictions!

State of the Union Metrobus Detours Announced
Earlier this morning, we filled you in regarding the road closures near the Capitol during this evening’s State of the Union, but noted that Metro had yet to announce the details on bus detours for the routes that wind around the area. The transit agency released those updates late this morning — check the PDF below for specific detours on the 32, 34, 36 and 96 routes.

Tonight’s Road Closures for the State of the Union
As usual, the U.S. Capitol Police will close most of the streets near the Capitol this evening for the State of the Union address. Unless you’re an “authorized pedestrian,” you won’t be able to access Capitol Square starting at 6 p.m., while the following roads will be closed between 7:00 p.m. and the conclusion of the speech.

Weekend Events Close Streets, Detour Buses
Photo by cstein96You may have noticed a lot more pink around town this morning, thanks to the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure, which is taking place downtown. Several roads in the center of the city have closed to allow race participants to do their thing — including 3rd, 4th and 7th Streets and Independence Avenue, all of which will be shut off to all traffic until at least 4 p.m. this afternoon….

Lingering Post-Storm Metrobus Confusion
DCist heard from frustrated D2 Metrobus riders over the weekend, via both Twitter and email, who complained they hadn’t been made aware that the route was still not really running normally since last week’s double-blizzard. The last WMATA had announced, the D1 was one of the remaining bus routes still not up and running, but they didn’t say anything about the D2. So what gives?
