Police Release Nearly 250 Photos Of People Caught Illegally Driving Dirt Bikes And ATVs
MPD is offering a $250 reward for information leading to identification and confiscation.
Fines and jail time would increase with each offense. It would also make it illegal to park a dirt bike or ATV in public spaces in the District, and require all ATVs in D.C. to be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Of the 33 defendants found guilty of illegally operating a dirt bike or ATV, only two faced any sort of fine and none received jail time, according to an analysis by the union.
“We have other means to identify the individuals who are driving recklessly without regard to other people’s lives.”
A 17-year-old from Maryland died after crashing into a tree on his dirt bike.
