D.C. Slaps Down ‘Dirty Asian’ Sign at H Street Bar

Rickey Named Official D.C. Cocktail
The official D.C. bird is the wood thrush. The official D.C. flower is the American Beauty Rose. And now, D.C. will have an official cocktail: the Rickey, joining Louisiana (the Sazerac) as the only other state place to have an official cocktail.

Mixed Messages From Metro
During our discussion with Metro General Manager/Chief Executive Officer Richard Sarles on Tuesday night, the new permanent boss noted that one of the two biggest complaints he got from riders wasn’t about high fares, bag searches or reliability issues — it was refuse, like coffee cups, being left inside trains and stations. Sarles was quick to point out that Metro customers should do their part to try and curb such behavior.

Eating is a daily activity for everyone, and over a year we consume hundreds of foods. This year, Washington has seen a number of restaurants and bars open. Some of which we visited — Capital City Diner, Point Chaud Cafe & Crepes, Muncheez Mania, Merzi, Sidebar, Ray’s the Steaks at East River, Star and Shamrock and Eat Wonky, to name a few. And we’ve seen the Brickskeller serve up its last beer.
