Dave Chappelle says the name will be Theater for Artistic Freedom and Expression because “that’s what I would want for myself, and that’s what I want for every student that goes to this school.”

Some in the school community say they want more transparency and responsiveness from the school after recent episodes drew national attention.

The comedian gifted his alma mater, the Duke Ellington School of The Arts, with the Emmy he won last week.
