A new device that beeps at Spin scooter users if they ride on sidewalks is in the pilot stage, with no concrete plans yet on whether it will be fully rolled out to the company’s 3,000 scooters in D.C.

Bird, Lime, Bolt and Razor will have to leave the District at the end of March.

The city originally said that Bird, Lime, Razor, and Bolt would have to get off the streets next year. Now they have a chance to fight to stay.

But the actual number of scooters in the District would still see an increase.
