Tonight: DCist Exposed Panel Discussion at Long View Gallery

Remember to join us tonight for the Emerge Exposed panel discussion. Pink Line Project hosts this event for those who want to learn more about supporting local arts — you’ll be able to listen to and ask questions of a knowledgable group of artists and collectors answer questions about seeking out and buying art. This year, art dealer Catriona Fraser and photographer Tom Wolffe will join moderator Philippa Hughes.

DCist Exposed Special Event: Emerge Exposed

One of the goals we’ve developed for the DCist Exposed Photography Show is creating a casual venue to explore art. This is both for new artists who are finding their footing as photographers, as well as new art enthusiasts, who feel comfortable enjoying the classics in D.C.’s many museum collections, but may be unsure where to start when it comes to supporting the arts locally. We want Exposed to be a great avenue to…

Tonight: Emerge Exposed Panel at Long View Gallery

Join us tonight for the last big event of the 2010 DCist Exposed Photography Show. The Pink Line Project presents Emerge Exposed: Photography for the Emerging Collector for its third year. Three great panelists — George Hemphill, Leena Jayaswal, and Max Hirshfeld — and moderator Philippa Hughes will offer tips and ideas and answer all your questions about how to buy photography. Which means we’ll take this moment to remind you that all the…

Emerge Exposed Panel Discussion Next Tuesday

While you can still stroll through the DCist Exposed Photography Show anytime during Long View Gallery’s regular hours until March 21, we still have one more big event before the show closes. Pink Line Project’s fantastic Emerge Exposed: Photography for the Emerging Collector panel discussion is back for its third year, featuring three great people from the local art community who will discuss that other side of the art exhibit: purchasing a piece for…

Thanks for Making the 2010 DCist Exposed Show Our Biggest Yet

We had a feeling that by holding the 2010 DCist Exposed Photography Show at the 5,000 sq. ft. Long View Gallery, we’d encourage a few more people to attend the opening reception this year. But we’re not sure we were emotionally prepared for Saturday’s big event to draw close to double the number of people who showed up last year. Eager early birds started lining up outside the door half an hour before the gallery…

DCist Exposed Photography Show opens Saturday, March 6

Logo by Lynne Venart; photo by Angela Kleis That’s just eight short days from now! It’s time to get excited, folks. Next Saturday, March 6, from 6 to 10 p.m., we’ll be at Long View Gallery to celebrate 47 fantastic photographs that each showcase our city in a different way. More than an art show, DCist Exposed is a celebration of local talent: the awesome photographers who contribute images to DCist, and the faithful…

Photo of the Day: March 4, 2009

Big thanks to the nearly 70 people who made it out last night for Emerge Exposed, our panel discussion for the DCist Exposed Photography Show. Brian Knight Photography took this wide angle shot as people filtered in to Flashpoint’s Mead Theater Lab to take their seats (and also gave his own live-tweet of the discussion, cut and pasted to his Flickr caption). You can see our four panelists waiting to share their knowledge about…

Emerge Exposed Panel Discussion Next Tuesday

As you know, you can see the DCist Exposed Photography Show at Flashpoint anytime from Tuesday through Saturday, 12 to 6 p.m. through March 7, but we have one more big event associated with it. Last year we asked the Pink Line Project to hold a panel discussion during the exhibition, to talk to people about how and why one should buy art, particularly photography. The event sold out quickly and was packed with…

Arts Agenda

As far as any of us are concerned, there’s only one art event going on this weekend that should be on your calendar. (Okay, that’s not entirely true; we’ve got your abbreviated agenda below.) The third annual DCist Exposed Photography Show opens Friday night, 5 to 9 p.m. at the Gallery at Flashpoint. You’ve read all about it, so we’ll just answer the questions that are starting to full up our inboxes this week:The…

Last Day of DCist Exposed Tomorrow

The 2008 DCist Exposed Photography Show has been quite a ride this year. We started with nearly 600 fantastic entries, giving our judges the tough job of picking only 47 winning images. We watched people line up down the street to get into our packed opening reception. The folks at Civilian Art Projects have watched a constant stream of visitors come into the gallery during their regular opening hours. Wednesday night we teamed with…
