The Metropolitan Police Department is expanding an anti-littering pilot program this week, empowering officers in the Sixth District east of the Anacostia River to hand out $75 tickets to people caught throwing trash on the ground.

Uber Hires Well-Connected Lawyer
Amidst ongoing controversy over whether its high-end app-based livery service is legal or not, Uber has hired a well-connected D.C. lawyer to represent its interests and argue on its behalf.
A member of Occupy D.C. was arrested midday Sunday after pulling down the notices that the National Park Service posted over the weekend as a final warning that the ban on camping at McPherson Square would begin being enforced.
Next time you contest a parking ticket, you might want to think twice about pretending that the violation you’re accused of didn’t happen — the District might have photographic evidence that it did.
