Elsewhere in the Ist-a-verse
While SFist cringed at the fatal dose of crime littering the Bay Area, it found solace in Hillary Clinton’s San Francisco campaign headquarters opening, which featured loads of exposed mammary glands. In other news, SF Taxi Commission ruled that Satan’s cab must keep its (in)famous medallion number, 666; and in an un-fashion-forward frenzy, San Francisco Fashion Week (chortle) bars bloggers from covering and getting smashed at their shows and parties, respectively. Also, they found a…

NBC4 Anchors Lose It Over Model Falling Down
Via Glumbert, a snipped of an NBC4 news segment we missed earlier this month. In it, you can hear anchor Jim Vance and a handful of other NBC folks practically choke to death on their own laughter as Vance reports on a story out of Paris Fashion Week, where a runway model fell down not once, but twice on her way back from the end of the catwalk. We’re not sure which is funnier…

FRIDAY: >> James Wong Howe’s 1954 film Go, Man, Go! is a fictionalized account of the Harlem Globetrotters story, starring Sidney Poitier, Dane Clark and some of the original Globetrotters. And we don’t know about you guys, but we’re just never bored watching those guys do things with a basketball that seem to defy the laws of physics. Plus there’s a love story, and who couldn’t use a little more love? A free showing has…

D.C.: Design Capital?
If you’ve been at work all week lamenting the fact that you’re crunching numbers in a cube instead of rubbing elbows in Bryant Park, fear not: DC Fashion Week is here. We won’t pretend it compares to New York’s Fashion Week, but we can’t argue with its mission. “DC Fashion Week was created to increase economic development in the area of fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling, and to enhance the visibility of the nation’s…

D.C. Struts the Catwalk
DCist has discovered that, against all logic, Mayor Anthony Williams proclaimed Sept. 10-19 dcFashionWeek. Sponsored by Corjor International, dcFashionWeek is a partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models showcasing ready-to-wear, urbanwear and couture from an eclectic group of local and international designers. (This image shows the work of dcFashionWeek design participant Troy Artis.) The week kicked off Monday with a ready-to-wear showcase and appears to offer more to the D.C. community than the latest…
