With DC Beer Week in the books, we can bring our focus back to all beer here in the city, not just local — and this week, the nation’s third-largest craft brewer, New Belgium Brewing, expanded into the D.C. market.

New Belgium to Arrive in D.C. Before Labor Day
New Belgium’s Fat Tire, Ranger IPA and fall seasonal Hoptober Ale will be distributed in the tri-state area starting August 22, with the tripel and Lips of Faith series available in select areas at a later date.

New Belgium to Expand Distribution to D.C.
Beers from Colorado brewer New Belgium have achieved some level of cult status. Part of the reason for this is that despite being the third-largest craft brewer in America, the brewery did not distribute east of the Mississippi until 2009. However, that is all about to change as we find out from DC Beer that New Belgium is seeking to expand their distribution to D.C., Maryland and Virginia some time this fall. The timeline will reportedly depend on the distributors in the localities, but demand may be high enough to force the distributors to respond quickly.

Segway Spottings
DCist had nearly forgotten about the start of Segway tours of the capital’s major attractions, until this weekend when we came across this scene at the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and C Street NW.
