This Is Seattle’s Flag, AKA Our New Flag (For a Day)
Mayor Vince Gray bet big on the ‘Skins game yesterday against the Seattle Seahawks, and now D.C. is going to have to pay up.
If you see an odd-looking flag flying in front of the Wilson Building, just take it as a heartless reminder of our gut-wrenching loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Obama Orders Flags Lowered for Neil Armstrong
President Obama ordered that U.S. flags at all government and military sites will be flown at half-staff later this week when the astronaut Neil Armstrong, who died Saturday, is buried.

Trickeration Without Representation
Okay, so technically the D.C. map is reflected the wrong way (or maybe I want Virginia back and wards 6 and 8 sent back to Maryland), but I’m still quite proud of my craftsmanship. Of course, I wasn’t the only person who chose the to rep the good ol’ D of C on my Jack-o’-lantern.

A Football Uniform Harvey Dent Would Love
If you’re anything like this editor, you probably got back from your Labor Day travel last night, plopped down on the couch, and flipped on ESPN to glance at the score of the Maryland-Miami football game. Of course, if you’re anything like this editor, said glance quickly turned into gawking.

Photo Booth: D.C. Flag Tattoo Day
To D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, they were the “tattooed people.” But to the hundreds of residents that showed up in Dupont Circle yesterday to show off their D.C. flag tattoos, they were simply proud of their city and willing to show it.
It’s Capital Pride time in the nation’s capital, but Pride is hardly limited to the District. Take Richmond, where the Federal Reserve Bank is flying a rainbow flag to show its support during Pride Month. Of course, not everyone is thrilled about the flag — that’s your cue, Virginia Delegate Robert G. Marshall!
During this morning’s legislative meeting of the D.C. Council, Councilmembers Phil Mendelson and Michael A. Brown introduced legislation — the District of Columbia Flag Amendment Act of 2011 — which would allow the city to fly, on Flag Day, an alternate version of the District’s flag with the words “No Taxation Without Representation” emblazoned on it.
