For the third year in a row, proud District residents will gather in Dupont Circle this evening on Flag Day to show support for statehood.
D.C. Council Chair Phil Mendelson said today that the council would vote on legislation this week that would allow the city to fly a specially designed D.C. flag bearing the message “Taxation Without Representation” on Flag Day every year.
The D.C. flag is simple, distinctive and makes for great tattoos. On Thursday those that have permanently inked the stars and bars into their skin will gather to celebrate in Dupont Circle.

D.C. Ink: Flag-Tatted to Gather at Dupont Tomorrow
Part celebration of the District’s hometown pride and part protest of the city’s longstanding second-class status, organizers of DC Flag Tattoo Day: Flag Day in the Flesh have put the word out to anyone who has a stars-and-bars tattoo — and even those who don’t — to gather at Dupont Circle at 6 p.m. tomorrow.
