D.C. and U.S. territories are closer to being afforded an honor that they’ve long been denied: having their flags flown at military ceremonies.
Tomorrow, because of a bet between D.C. Mayor Vince Gray and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, the St. Louis flag will be flying in front of the John A. Wilson Building.
If the Nationals win the NLDS, the D.C. Flag will fly over St. Louis City Hall for a day. But if the Cardinals win, it’ll be St. Louis’ banner hanging above the John A. Wilson Building.
Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown will likely have a huge sendoff when his funeral is held, and D.C. is preparing accordingly: Mayor Vince Gray said today during an interview on NewsTalk with Bruce DePuyt that flags would be flown at half-staff during the event.

Part celebration of the District’s hometown pride and part protest of the city’s longstanding second-class status, organizers of DC Flag Tattoo Day: Flag Day in the Flesh have put the word out to anyone who has a stars-and-bars tattoo — and even those who don’t — to gather at Dupont Circle at 6 p.m. tomorrow.

Libyan Embassy Swaps Flags
The Libyan Embassy in Washington, located at 2600 Virginia Avenue NW, has reportedly changed its flag from the monochromatic green rectangle adopted in 1977, a few years after Moammar Gadhafi took power, to the Libyan Independence flag, which had been in use before that time, starting when the country won its independence from Italy in 1951.
