D.C. Council Considers Increasing Penalties for Flash Robs, Making it Easier for Police to Arrest Sexual Harassers
A D.C. Council committee today heard testimony on a bill that would increase penalties for those who participate in “flash robs” and another bill that would allow police to arrest someone for indecent exposure or sexual harassment without first getting a warrant.
For 7-Eleven convenience stores in Washington, Free Slurpee Day came and went pleasantly enough. But at one Baltimore location, what was supposed to be a friendly promotional event into total chaos.
Montgomery County police are currently investigating an incident where “about 50 teens and young adults” entered a 7-Eleven on the 12000 block of Tech Road in Silver Spring, stole food and drinks, then ran out.

Ban on Dancing Inside the Jefferson Memorial Upheld
In 2008, D.C. resident Brooke Oberwetter was arrested and held for several hours by Park Police for dancing inside the Jefferson Memorial with a group of about 20 nerdy libertarian wonk types who had convened for a silent midnight flash mob. The internet was not pleased. But today, a federal appellate panel ruled that the Park Police were justified in hauling Oberwetter off that evening.

‘Barn Dance’ Planned for Barnes Dance
