Artist John Holcomb’s The United Plates series re-imagines U.S. states as food. Holcomb whimsically and deliciously illustrates Alaska as biscuits and gravy, Iowa as a package of Twinkies and Tennessee as a hot dog, to name a few. But despite the fact that it’s not a state, Holcomb told DCist that he couldn’t ignore the number of people who clamored for D.C. to be a part of the project.
