Between 35 and 45% of residents in Prince George’s County, Prince William County, and D.C. say they don’t have consistent access to food.
The local non-profit that provides a variety of food, medical, legal, and social services will be shutting down both of its food pantries and pausing services from March 20 to April 18.
The region’s Black and Hispanic residents were most impacted, underscoring longstanding inequities in the D.C. area.
50% of newly food insecure D.C. residents identified as Hispanic, while only 16% reported experiencing food insecurity before the pandemic.
