The Monument Quilt is a collection of nearly 3,000 stories of survival of sexual violence that were written, stitched, and painted onto four-by-four-foot squares.

The display of the Monument Quilt, a project of the Baltimore-based activist group FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture, was a first in D.C.

The display of the quilt, from 1 to 4 p.m., will be the first in D.C.

The group is trying to raise $25,000 for the quilt through Kickstarter.

In May, two Metro Transit Police officers were caught on video forcefully restraining and arresting a man outside the U Street Metro station. That wasn’t enough evidence for federal investigators, however.
