D.C. officials will announce a plan to open a temporary Frager’s Hardware store on the site that once housed the interim Eastern Market.

In a message posted to its website, Frager’s announced that all of its employees who were on duty when the blaze broke out made it safely out of the store.

It didn’t take long for customers and other supporters of Frager’s Hardware to rally around the store after a four-alarm fire gutted the 93-year-old Capitol Hill mainstay.

“This is truly a neighborhood store. And we will rally around whatever they need,” Wells said.

More than 100 D.C. firefighters were dispatched to put out a four-alarm blaze that has consumed Frager’s Hardware and three surrounding buildings on Capitol Hill.
