The hospital, which is slated to open in December of 2024, is D.C.’s second public project to be named after Frederick Douglass.
D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton introduced a bill yesterday that would establish a commission to honor Frederick Douglass’s bicentennial birthday in 2018.

The District finally got some representation in the U.S. Capitol. Well, at least in the building’s collection of statues, when the sculpture of the early civil rights leader Frederick Douglass was unveiled.
At long last, the District will finally have some representation in another part of the U.S. Capitol.
