Full Minute of Mercury @ Iota
Written by DCist Music Contributor Jim Smalley. Photos by Patrick L. Dunne. Breaking News: Z104 No More
We’re hearing word that Z104 has fired all of its staff and will be switching formats at some point before the end of the week. The tip comes from a local musician (Chris, from Full Minute of Mercury) who was scheduled to record there this week, and whose taping got cancelled in lieu of the news. Weekly Music Agenda
Remember all those times we’ve off-handedly mentioned that this winter would be slow for concerts? Well, the time is here. As we said in the first Three Stars ever, we’re going to keep doing this until we run out…

Previously on DCist
On Friday, DCist readers engaged in some relatively civil back and forth over the much publicized America Supports You Freedom Walk, an event organized by the Department of Defense to honor the service of the country’s countless men and women in uniform and to memorialize the death of those who lost their lives four years ago at the Pentagon. Taking place today, thousands of people, pictured above, gathered at the Pentagon and followed a…

Three Stars: Barakus
This is the second entry in this week’s Three Stars local music roundup. Click here to read yesterday’s piece on Death By Sexy, and be sure to check back tomorrow for our take on Full Minute of Mercury. Today, Amanda Mattos discusses Barakus. Barakus If we weren’t sure we were seeing a local band, it only took one sweeping glance at the audience to identify it as such. Rather than throngs of hipsters peddling for…
