Supreme Court Ruling Could Negate D.C. Law Limiting Repayment Of Personal Loans To Political Campaigns
D.C. currently says elected officials can only fundraise to pay back $25,000 of any personal loan they made to their own campaign, but the law may no longer survive legal scrutiny.
This is the first election cycle where mayoral candidates will have access to public financing, and all three major contenders have said they will take it.

Mara Returns Check From Anti-Statehood PAC
After criticism from one of his competitors in the April 23 special election for an At-Large seat on the D.C. Council, Patrick Mara is returning a $1,000 donation from a conservative political action committee that includes in its platform opposition to D.C. statehood.
With the April 23 At-Large special election just over a month off, Patrick Mara led all challengers in fundraising over the last month.
