The Men, Women and Guy With a Boot Hat That Want to be the Next President

Roseanne Barr wants to be the next U.S. president. So do a lot of other fringe candidates, from one guy with a boot hat to another who bases his campaign platform on the 1611 King James Bible. We review but a small sampling of them.

Signs Outlining Escalator Rules Pop Up at Foggy Bottom

Trouble on the escalators at the Foggy Bottom Metro station is a common and reliable source of rider frustration. And, for as long as I can remember, people have been pining for somebody to take a stand and make the rules of escalator etiquette totally clear to others.

ACLU, Cheh, Media Call For Dismissal of Snyder Lawsuit

The American Civil Liberties Union of the Nation’s Capital, D.C. Councilmember Mary Cheh and several media outlets, including National Public Radio, Allbritton Communications and WUSA9, have filed an amicus brief calling for the dismissal of Redskins owner Dan Snyder’s lawsuit against Washington City Paper and writer Dave McKenna regarding claims made in McKenna’s “Cranky Redskins Fan’s Guide to Dan Snyder”. (The idea of Colbert running ads without politicians’ permission has some serious legs, you have to admit.)

Awkward Public Dancing: Politicians Are Really Good At It

In case you missed it, here’s Vince Gray bustin’ a move last night alongside Kwame Brown, Eleanor Holmes Norton, Harry Thomas Jr. and, of course, Marion Barry, who looked like he just showed up to the victory party after coaching a softball team. Gray spent most of his time dancing to Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers’ “Bustin’ Loose” talking with Norton — and getting completely overshadowed by Brown, who almost started doing the lawnmower at one point.

Jim Vance’s Laughter Will Power Us All Through This Friday Afternoon

Jim Vance — the venerable, lovable NBC4 news anchor — just cannot keep it together when reporting on footage of a model falling over on a catwalk. We knew this already. But producers during last night’s newscast obviously felt like proving it yet again. For that, we thank them.
