Maryland’s gas tax reprieve will end on April 16. The state’s House of Delegates voted against an amendment that would have extended the holiday. 

The letter, signed by nearly 60 organizations, says the tax holiday would hurt transportation funding in the Commonwealth.

Virginia is also exploring a three-month gas tax holiday.

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam announced a state of emergency Tuesday to keep the commonwealth’s gas supply from being depleted.

As of today, the average cost per gallon in D.C. is $2.48.

Despite having failed to get the necessary votes last year, Councilmember Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) still hopes to pass a bill that would effectively dismantle a gas station monopoly operating in the District.

When it comes to utility rage around these parts, Pepco is the target of a majority of complaints. But perhaps we should be paying a little bit more attention to Washington Gas, if this ABC7 report is any indication.

The District’s ability to manage its fleet has taken quite a beating in recent months. But with gas officially breaking the five dollar-ceiling at the notoriously expensive Watergate Exxon station and rental car companies charging customers north of nine bucks a gallon for unleaded, it’s refreshing to see there’s at least one agency doing something good when it comes to its cars.
