Scandals Continue to Plague WASA
When Thomas P. Jacobus, general manager of the aqueduct that provides water to the District, Arlington and Falls Church commented to the Post today, “Perhaps sometimes we don’t do the best job we could of communicating,” he summed up in a few words the main problem that has plagued the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority — which delivers water from the Washington Aqueduct to customers — over the last few years. And while it remains…

Photo of the Day: May 22, 2007
Anyone thirsty? Today’s Photo of the Day, a stream of water from a fireboat, comes to us from TheClayTaurus. Besides its vibrant colors, I like how you can see the fluid dynamics at work. Check out the large version for a good view of the water jet narrowing just after it leaves the nozzle. This also reminds us that the city best get working on its hydrants so we don’t have any repeats of…

Go Home Already: Friday Night Fights
>> Some folks over at Metroblogging DC have taken up the ‘This City Doth Protest Too Much’ banner. Is D.C. really numb to the plethora of protests happening year round, or is it still important for activists to take their message to the streets? >> A reminder that police are still looking for a green SUV with Maryland plates in the hit-and-run death of six-year-old Crysta Spencer on April 23. [stop, blog, and roll]…

Morning Roundup: Cuatro de Mayo Edition
The weekend’s almost here — with all its school painting, free comic books and tequila toasting — and frankly, it’s hard to spy sunshine through the window and imagine spending the day inside. Commuters who use MARC’s Camden Line (Baltimore-D.C.) have the perfect excuse for blowing off work. For the second day in a row trains are running at least 40 minutes late due to signal problems. It sounds like a major hassle, so…

Morning Roundup: Who Cares About The Queen? Edition
Good morning D.C., and thanks for sticking with us. We realize that there may be some confusion about our legal status as a website in light of our failure, to date, to post the HD-DVD decryption key that 95% of the web seems to now be busy defiantly reproducing. Rest assured: we are still an internet website. As soon as we figure out a way to photoshop the 16-byte hexadecimal number into a picture…

Morning Roundup: Mayday, Mayday Edition
Welcome to May, Washington. It’s beautiful outside and will stay that way throughout the week. In fact, checking WUSA’s weather forecast this morning, we smiled at all the pretty suns and mild temperatures. The clearest meteorological message, though, is the helpful “Warm” and “Nice” written neatly across the image. Not too shabby. It’s also nice weather for balloting. Today, voters in Wards Four and Seven head to the polls to elect new D.C. council members….

Photo of the Day: June 30, 2006
Today we bring you a little vertigo from Flickr user AlbinoFlea. I had a tough time choosing between this one and maxedaperture’s puddle of melted ore, but AlbinoFlea’s photo of a Georgetown Library staircase stood out with its brilliant color and repeated patterns. It was taken with a Sony DSC-H2 and you can find the other EXIF data here….
