D.C. Sues Instacart For Charging Customers Allegedly Deceptive Fees And Avoiding Sales Taxes
The lawsuit says Instacart led customers to falsely believe that an optional “service fee” was a tip for workers.
Residents who qualify based on income and access to food will have the option of receiving prepared meals, groceries, or both.

Watergate/Senior Safeway To Close in December
The Safeway grocery at the Watergate complex — often referred to as the Senior Safeway due to its appeal to older residents who live in the complex — will close on December 3, reports the Post’s Jonathan O’Connell.
As our commentariat pointed out, Mayor Vince Gray will be bagging groceries at the Southwest Waterfront Safeway this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. But as amusing as that may sound, it’s actually not the food-related event we’re most looking forward to seeing the Mayor participate in this week.

It’s been no secret that, at some point, the Giant supermarket at 1414 8th Street NW in Shaw would close — after all, it’s difficult to build a new development which features a brand new, 35,000-square-foot supermarket with an old one standing in the way. Today, the chain confirmed that the grocery would close on September 8 at 6 p.m.
