D.C. Red Top Parking Meter Program Discontinued—For Now

A D.C. plan to install some 1,500 red top parking meters reserved for handicapped drivers was delayed today as the D.C. Council complained that the move came too suddenly and without proper public input.

Beware the Red Top Parking Meter

If you’re circling the block downtown and happen upon one of the scarce open on-street parking spots, be sure to check the color of the parking meter. If it’s red and you’re not handicapped, it’s not the place for you to park.

Taxicab Moratorium Partially Lifted for Green Cabs

Since earlier this year, there’s been a moratorium on taxicab licenses. But today, Mayor Vince Gray announced that the moratorium would be partially lifted for very specific types of cabs.
