D.C. Finally Gets Out From Under Federal Hatch Act
A pair of bills passed by Congress will finally allow D.C. to get out from under the federal Hatch Act, the law that prevents civil servants from engaging in partisan political activities.
As part of a larger bill to reform the federal Hatch Act, today D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton introduced language that would allow the District to operate by its own local version of the law like many other states do.
