Almost a year after police raided it, Adams Morgan’s Capitol Hemp is closing its doors. But one of the store’s owners still believes that they were unfairly targeted by politicians and police.

David Bronner, creator of Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, was arrested outside the White House today in what may well be one of the more creative protests we’ve heard of in a while—he caged himself to protest U.S. policies on the industrial production of hemp.

It’s not looking like much came of last October’s police raid of two Capitol Hemp locations in the District.

This evening, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department raided two additional head shops along 18th Street in Adams Morgan.

UPDATE (3 p.m.): Huffington Post reports that Adam Eidinger, who owns Capitol Hemp, has claimed that a political motive exists for the raids.
